Right now, medical malpractice is like a lottery for the Lawyers because if you file and lose, you have virtually nothing invested. If however, you file a suit and lose and were responsible to pay ALL costs for the defendant I suspect we could thin the heard considerably. Right now, lawyers, for a very small investment (virtually no risk) have a shot a winning the Lotto. I’m pretty sure their odds are better than the Lotto though!

You pay for it three times over when someone goes to the emergency room without insurance. They can’t turn people away—they took the Hippocratic oath. Now, the sensible thing would be to force the Ins. Co.s to provide affordable health care so middle-class and rich people won’t have to subsidize the burden.

I dont think “caps” are the answer. Honesty, integrity and compassion to fellow human beings would go a long way. Drop the frivalous suits before they go anywhere. Hold attorneys accountable for encouraging pts to “play the lotto”. Get malpractice back to reasonable suits, ? no
